Sydney's Largest Little Laneway
Always-on and larger-than-life, this little laneway punches above its weight with a mix of emerging fashion and lifestyle retailers, and is also the new home of some of Sydney’s best-known and loved food concepts. Here's what you need to know:
FROM BÁNH MI TO BUBBLE TEA
Bringing together local operators and cheap eats for all, Steam Mill Lane is Sydney's new place for a quick pick-me-up, a long lunch, a hangover cure, or late night noodle (or whisky) fix - you can drop into cult classic Belles Hot Chicken, all-day Italian cafe and bar Il Bacio, Japanese cafe MATCHA-YA, bubble tea house Gong Cha.
Also open are Bexley's famous gyro spot Gyradiko, Surry Hills favourite The Sandwich Shop, Sydney bánh mì institution Marrickville Pork Roll, Japanese-Nordic cafe Edition Coffee Roasters, and nourishing DIY sashimi bowls from Fishbowl. There’s also Bang Bang, a neon-lit Kabukicho-styled Japanese whisky and craft beer bar with back street noodle house vibes, which also features a soundproof private karaoke dining room for those feeling musically inclined!
Feel like updating your look? Steam Mill Lane has you covered there too - with urban streetwear from Pict, barber services from Men's Culture and sustainable eyewear (and in-house optometry services) from Dresden Optics. There's also Korean-inspired travel accessories store ALIFEHAUS, as well as the local Darling Square Pharmacy for when you can't shake that runny nose.
From coffee to karaoke, contemporary fashion retailers and all your daily conveniences, Steam Mill Lane is big on personality and surprises. Be it pop-up activations, events, art installations or designated space for pop-up stores, this is no ordinary alley.
