Darling Square is welcoming the Year of the Dragon with hundreds of traditional lanterns lighting up the night, artwork from Chris Yee, live music & lion dances.
LUNAR NEW YEAR AT DARLING SQUARE
Be immersed in a sea of traditional New Year lanterns shining a light of Lunar New Year wishes.
On Saturday 10th February between 5pm - 10pm, spend $50 at any Darling Square retailer and receive a free Paper Lantern! Celebrate Lunar New Year by taking it home with you or gift to a loved one!
There will also be a Calligraphy Artist onsite to customise your lantern! Visit the calligraphy bar located in the Square with your proof or purchase to receive your FREE lantern.
Kick off your Lunar New Year celebrations with the Sydney Lunar Festival on Sat 10 Feb from 5-10 pm. The streets of Haymarket will buzz with live entertainment, roving performers, food trucks, market stalls, DJs and plenty of Instagram moments.
Celebrate the New Year with one of the most important traditions, the Lion Dance will welcome prosperity and good luck for the upcoming year (and it's a lot of fun!)

After you have enjoyed the festivities in Darling Square, head down to cockle bay to see the sky light up with a Lunar New Year drone show every Friday throughout the festival (February 9, 16 and 23).
On Saturday February 10 and 24, catch a spectacular performance of entertainers in Lunar New Year themed costumes, soaring sky high over the waters of Cockle Bay, propelled by jet packs.
The McDonald’s Darling Square restaurant is unveiling a Lunar New Year storefront mural, designed by Asian-Australian artist Chris Yee. The mural says, ‘Miss you and wish you were here’, inviting people to snap a photo and share with their loved ones, wherever they are in the world.
Dance to the beats from 6pm - 9pm on Saturday the 10th and 17th February.
